This year’s Coal and Energy Transition Day provided a comprehensive examination of the future of coal and South Africa’s evolving energy landscape, bringing together government, industry leaders, investors, logistics providers and independent power producers to explore the opportunities and challenges of a transitioning energy mix. Discussions addressed the impact of geopolitics on energy demand, the coal market and the energy transition, a comprehensive examination of the future of coal, both globally and locally, and the need for South Africa to transition to cleaner energy sources.
